Tandy Ross Walk, age 62, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on November 19, 2023.
Ross was born on July 7, 1961 to Verle Walk Sr. and Sandra Reiser in Salt Lake City, Utah. After high school, Ross graduated from the College of Eastern Utah as a diesel mechanic.
In the Summer of 1981, Ross went on a road trip with his friend Torey. Their car broke down in East Carbon and Ross took a summer job working in the Horse Canyon Coal Mine to help get it back on the road. After working for a few months, his friend Nick suggested that he ask out a beautiful local named Sandra. Ross happened to work in the mines with the local girl’s father, Garren, and being the gentleman that he was, Ross asked Garren if he could take Sandra out on a date.
Garren looked Ross straight in the eyes and said, “Ross, you are the hardest worker in this mine. You can take my daughter out but if you hurt her, I will bury you six feet under.” This didn’t scare Ross away and shortly after, he met the love of his life, Sandra Dean Walk. The connection was instant and beautiful, like that of a love story from the big screen. Ross treated Sandra like a queen and they married just three months later on October 17, 1981. They had two beautiful children, Alicia Monique Walk and Kendall Ross Walk.
Ross loved baking cookies and helping others with anything and everything. He was the person that everyone in the community called if they had a problem that needed solving. With a mechanical mind, he could figure out the answer to anything. He was loved and known by everyone in the small town he called home. He was a kind and jovial man and a devoted husband, father, and friend. He always had a smile on his face and a “dad joke” to tell.
Ross is survived by his daughter, Alicia Monique Walters; son, Kendall Ross Walk (Cassie); grandchildren, Alex Walters, Aiden Walk, Jackson Johnson and Maverick Johnson; siblings, Candy Bowerbank, Verle Izatt and Bradley Begent; mother, Sandra Reiser; and many other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Dean Walk; brother, Todd Walk; father, Verle Walk Sr.; mother and father-in-law, Garren and Louise Whitlock.
