Our sweet mom and grandmother of five generations, Dorothy Hinkins Haycock Petersen, age 98, passed on November 22, 2023 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She passed with her family by her side, while residing at the Charleston in Cedar Hills at the time of her passing.

Dorothy was born in Standardville, Utah on December 18, 1924 to Parley and Jane Catherine White Hinkins. She was one of ten children.  She was the first class at Helper Junior High and graduated from Carbon High School.  Dorothy attended Henager’s College and worked at Hill Field (Hill Air Force) during World War II.  She married Johnny Haycock, May 26, 1948 in Price, Utah. When our dad passed, she later married Clyde Petersen on April 5, 1990 in Elko, Nevada.

Dorothy is survived by daughter, Hope (Norm) Day; granddaughters, Michelle (Marc) Wright, Brande (Mike) Bianco and Lindsay (Harlan) Bunker; and great-grandchildren, Johna (Braxton) Beard, Brandon Wright, MaKael Bianco, Dylan Bianco, Kaesen and Swaizey Bunker; her great-great-grandchildren, Cortlen Simkins, Charlie Beard, Oakley Ramirez-Wright, and Brayden and Alex Bianco; special friends, Leslie Keele and Merilee Hunt.

Those gone before her are her parents, Parley and Jane Hinkins; husbands, Johnny Haycock, Sr. and Clyde Petersen; son, Johnny Haycock, Jr.; grandson, Darren Day; granddaughter, Jenifer Lynn Day; and her nine brothers and sisters.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the entire staff at Charleston for making mom feel at home for the past months, also a thanks to Brooklyn at Yarrow Hospice for always being there when Dorothy needed you.  Your many acts of kindness and generosity will never be forgotten.

Funeral service, Friday, December 1, 2023, 10:30 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service.  Burial will be in the Mt. View Cemetery in Helper.  Arrangements are under the trusted care of Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Dorothy online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
