It’s time to sit down with Emery County Commissioner Jordan Leonard who was happy to highlight the county’s Clerk Auditor’s Office, mention the status of the ice-skating rink and discuss the recent commissioner’s meeting. Castle Country Radio now has the opportunity every other week to speak with the commissioner to keep citizens informed on the latest news and events.
Each time Commissioner Leonard speaks on the radio he likes to highlight a county department for doing a good job and this week he spoke about the Clerk Auditor’s Office. “I want to definitely give a shoutout to our Clerk Auditor’s Office. We’ve gone through budget meetings with our department heads, as well as the county budget. Looking at where we’re at, a lot of our departments were under budget this year so that’s really good. Just want to give a shout-out to her office and all the ladies that work in there,” said Commissioner Leonard. Be sure to swing by the Clerk Auditor’s Office and thank them for a job well done.
The county has prepped the ice-skating rink so that it can begin freezing up for a new year of fun activities. “With these cold temperatures that ice skating rink should freeze up pretty nicely, so if you’re interested in ice skating come on over to Castle Dale. I know there are some other cities looking to put ice skating rinks in, we can maybe talk about that next time. But yeah, ice skating rink, come on over, hopefully they’ll be freezing up soon,” stated Commissioner Leonard. Ice skates can be rented from the Emery County Recreation District.
At the recent Commissioner’s Meeting, there was discussion on continuing an agreement that the county has with USU Extension. “We’ve partnered with Utah State University for years through the Extension Office helping us with agriculture questions, helping the community with a lot of different things. So we’re excited to continue that partnership with Utah State University through Extension with agriculture, community development, and youth development. So, excited to continue that agreement with them,” said Commissioner Leonard. The services that are shared through the USU Extension Office are so beneficial for all community members young and old.
Finally, there was a discussion on a lease agreement regarding the Care Center in Ferron. “Traditions Healthcare has been helping us manage our Care Center in Ferron and they’ve done a good job. We have a really good solid board that works with Traditions to make sure that our folks get the best care possible at our care center, so we’re looking to renew that,” said Commissioner Leonard.
