Coming off the win over Providence Hall on the road, the Spartans held their home opener on Wednesday night as South Summit came to town. South Summit came in with a 3-0 record and no matter what Emery tried it wasn’t enough falling 51-44.

The Spartans jumped out in the first quarter taking a 14-8 lead. The second quarter South Summit took control, but Emery was able to hold them off by the slimmest of margins as they would take a 24-23 lead into the locker room at halftime.

In the third quarter both teams came out firing as South Summit outscored Emery 14-12 to take the lead 37-36. In the final quarter, South Summit would overpower the Spartans holding them to eight points in the fourth and taking the 51-44 win.

Luke Justice led the charge for Emery with 14 points. Zack Tuttle put up 13 and Wade Stilson had 7 in the loss.

The Spartans are on the road Friday when they will travel to face Panguitch. Saturday, Millard will be at the Spartan Center, and then Emery travels to Roosevelt to face the Union Cougars.
