Emery Spartan swimmers traveled to Roosevelt on Wednesday to face Morgan and host school Union. This season the swimmers have had some great outings finishing either in or near the top in every meet they have competed in, this time out both the boy’s and the girl’s teams grabbed second place.

The host Union Cougars claimed the top spot on the boy’s side of the pool with 170 points, Emery followed in second with 73 and Morgan finished in third with 40.

Once again medleys were very good to the  Spartans taking first place in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:43.83 was turned in by the team of Chase Huggard, Parker Jensen, Kade Larsen and Trek Petersen. In the 400 free Jensen, Huggard, Adam Olson, and Will Stilson swam to a second place finish. Larsen, Olson, Stilson, and Tyson Laws earned a second place finish in the 200 medley.

Individually, Jensen earned a first place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, Larsen earned third place finishes in both the 200 IM and the 100 free. and Jaimison Christiansen finished third in the 500 free.

For the girls, host Union earned the top prize with 140 points. Emery finished in second with 104 and Morgan landed in third place with 41.

In relays, the Lady Spartan team of Melody Lake, Illyria Mason, Carley Young, and Annie Johansen finished in first place with a time of 2:19.01 in the 200 medley. Purity Mason, Amy Sorenson, Jessie Childs and Emma Grimm took second place in the 200 free. And in the 400 relay Purity Mason, Illyria Mason, Lake, and Childs finished in second place as well.

Lake earned two individual first place finishes in the 500 free with her time of 6:24.77, and then again in the 100-yard breaststroke turning in a time of 1:17.39. Childs swam to a first place finish in the 50 free in a time of 29.26, and Illyria Mason took first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:17.15. Purity Mason claimed a second place finish in the 50-yard free and Ashley Mesler took third in the 100 free.

Emery heads back to the pool Friday and Saturday when they travel to Cedar City for the Canyon View Invitational.
