The 9th Annual Millsite On Ice Fishing Tournament is scheduled to kick-off on Jan. 12 at the Millsite State Park. This tournament is open to all anglers in the Castle Country area. Event Representative, Amanda Leonard took time to speak over the telephone with Castle Country Radio to share all the tournament details.

Organizers are excited to feature two full days of tournaments starting Jan. 12 with the two-person team tournament as Leonard explains, “You do have to have two people and we just measure the two longest fish from those two and the combined length is who the winners are, that’s how we pick. Our top, however many we have, it just depends on how many registers, and how many places we pay out. Because this tournament both days, everything goes back into the pot. So the more people that register, the more we give back.” All youth anglers are required to partner with an adult for the two-person team tournament.

On the second day, Jan. 13, it will be the youth, men’s and women’s categories. This will be the second year that they have had a women’s category added to the tournament. “We had a request last year, and we realized that was a good idea, we do have quite a few women that come out every year to fish in this so we’re excited to be able to give them some cash and trophies,” stated Leonard. Last year’s tournament was a huge hit with 450 anglers on the lake and this year is looking to be another great year for fishing.
