The Carbon County Family Support and Children’s Justice Center can provide a safe, homelike environment where parents can bring children during times of high stress, emergency, and conflict. Castle Country Radio sat down with Director, Shelley Wright to discuss all the details of their services.

“One of our goals is try to strengthen families by reducing the levels of stress. Whether it’s some financial stress or just the stress of taking care of children. If we can support a family by providing some short-term child care while they have to clean up their house, if they have to go to the grocery store, you know anything that they need to do to revive themselves, anything that will strengthen their family, but let us support the family,” stated Wright. The center offers Crisis/Respite Child Care which is intended to be a means of preventing abuse and reducing parental stress and/or a strained relationship. The center asks that if you are in need of Crisis/Respite Child Care that you schedule at least 24 hours in advance.

During the holiday season this year several organizations within the community held various fundraisers to assist the children at the center. “I think one of our biggest wins is the community support that we receive all year long. Washington Federal did a pajama drive, and then we had some members of Friends Board haul in brand new coats and used coats. We have already given out pajamas and coats, and just today I was able to help a family,” stated Wright. She is so appreciative to the community for always supporting the fundraising efforts that benefit the center.

As for next year the center is looking forward to their new big fundraising event that will take place in June, as Wright explains, “We have a golf tournament coming up on June 22. Our Friends Board is hosting, it’ll be our first golf tournament. We are hoping its going to be a success and we have a lot of things to look forward to with that. So yea, it’s gong to be a great year.”

The center is located at 80 South Fairgrounds Way in Price and their normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Any other questions please call the center at (435) 636-3739.
