Coming off a disappointing 61-58 loss to open Region 12 play to Juab in the Spartan Center on Tuesday night, the Lady Spartans were back on the court Thursday night to face the Delta Rabbits. This was a dominant effort from start to finish for Emery, claiming a 65-35 win.
The Spartans were looking to get back to their winning ways after losing two straight to Beaver and Juab, and took to the road on Thursday.
Emery came out ready to play in the first quarter, putting the clamps on the Rabbits defensively taking the lead after one 21-9. In the second quarter, Emery slowed down offensively but kept the defense turned up allowing Delta just five points and taking a 33-14 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The third quarter was the closest as the Rabbits scored 15 but Emery just barely edged them with 17. The final eight minutes belonged to the Spartans once again, with Emery surrendering six points to the Rabbits and coming away with the 65-35 victory.
Katelyn Nielson led the way with 16 points for the Spartans, she also added 16 rebounds and three steals. Aliya Lester had 16 as well with a pair of rebounds and a pair of steals. Kenadie Maughn had 14 with 16 boards in the win.
The Lady Spartans head back to the floor on Tuesday, December 19, when they welcome the Richfield Wildcats to the Spartan Center.
