015-10

The Carbon Dinos started strong but could not keep pace with the North Sanpete Hawks in a 66-43 loss Friday night in Mount Pleasant.

Opening Region 12 play on the road, the Dinos held a 14-12 lead at the end of the opening quarter. Momentum began to swing in the second as North Sanpete used a 24-10 run to take a double-digit advantage into the second half.

Carbon never recovered from the sluggish second quarter and managed just six points in the third as the Hawks continued to roll. The loss dips Carbon to 3-4 on the season, while the Hawks jumped the .500 barrier and now sit at 4-3.

Zeke Wilson reached double-figures as he scored 10 points, converting on one make from beyond the perimeter. Rydge Butler scored nine points, all of which came from the three-point line. Ryker Butler ended with eight points and Kahner Raby contributed seven.

The Dinos played a solid game defensively, keeping everyone in check except for standout Ridge Hendry. Doing most of his damage inside 20 feet, Hendry posted a game-high 26 points, while Payton Hendry chipped in with 13.

With only two games remaining before the lengthy Christmas break, the Dinos will have a quick turnaround as they next take the court Monday night. Traveling to Spanish Fork, Carbon will square off with American Leadership Academy in a non-region tilt.

Wednesday will mark the final game of the 2023 calendar year as Carbon welcomes in the Juab Wasps for the second region game of the season. Juab will also be in search of its first league win following a home loss to Emery Friday night.

Live coverage of Monday’s game against ALA will air live on KRPX 95.3 The Peak, beginning with the Landon’s Diesel Service Pre-Game Show at 6:30 pm. Tip-off will follow at 7:00.
