Our beloved mother, Carol Arnold Roundy, returned to the arms of her Heavenly Father and our father, Gary Arnold, on December 16, 2023 at the home of her son, Mark Arnold in West Point, Utah at the age of 85.
Mom was born on September 27, 1938 in Vernal, Utah to Owen Henry Johnstun and Mabel Anderson Johnstun.
Mom graduated from St. Helens High School in Oregon and then attended Brigham Young University where she met her future husband, Gary Arnold. They were married and sealed in the Manti LDS Temple on February 13, 1958. After dad’s passing in 1989, mom married Robert Roundy on December 16, 1991. He was a loving companion to her until his passing on June 2, 1999.
In 1970, mom graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught school at Sally Mauro and Price Elementary where she influenced the lives of hundreds of students over her 22 years of teaching.
As a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, mom held many callings in the Primary and Relief Society where she served in presidencies, taught, loved, and shared her music and talents. She served for many years in the Manti LDS Temple where she made numerous lifelong friends. She was always a faithful ministering sister to those she was responsible for and to anyone else who she thought could use an encouraging word or a visit. Her whole life was dedicated to the service of others.
Mom’s greatest joys on earth were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She treasured reading her scriptures and church publications every day. She loved her Heavenly Father and her Savior Jesus Christ and emulated them through her unconditional love for her family, friends, and everyone she met.
Mom is survived by her four children, Shauna Barnhurst (Dennis), Lon Arnold (Susan), Linda Taylor (Trent), and Mark Arnold (Jenn); 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren with two on the way; and a loving circle of extended family and friends.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Mabel Johnstun; husbands, Gary Arnold and Robert Roundy; infant daughter, Patricia; and granddaughter-in-law, Heather Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Carol by serving someone in need.
