Zeke Willson scored a game-high 17 points as the Carbon Dinos rolled past the American Leadership Academy Eagles 77-47 Monday night in Spanish Fork.
Carbon trailed just once early in the first quarter but used a methodical run to pull ahead 23-15 at the end of the opening quarter. The Dinos doubled the Eagles in the second quarter, 24-12, taking a comfortable lead into the second half.
The Carbon offense showed no signs of slowing in the final two quarters, leading to a season 76 points as the team improved to 4-4 on the season.
Dominic Cowan helped lead the Carbon surge as he finished with a season-high 14 points. A total of 11 Carbon players scored at least one point in the victory.
Monday’s win helped push the Dinos up in the latest UHSAA RPI to No. 10. Half of the top 10 is made up of teams in Region 12, which will give Carbon plenty of opportunities to climb.
The Dinos will return to the court on Wednesday with hopes of grabbing their first region win of the season, as they welcome in the No. 3 ranked Juab Wasps. The team will then head into Christmas break and not play again until Jan. 3 at home against Delta.
