
The Carbon Lady Dinos ended a two-game losing skid with a convincing 67-24 win over the Delta Rabbits on the road Tuesday night.
Playing for the first and only time this week, the Lady Dinos opened a double-digit lead by the end of the first quarter. The advantage grew to 35-15 at the end of the first half and a 22-point third quarter put the game out of reach as the team earned its second region win in as many tries.
Kylan Sorenson poured in a game-high 18 points on an efficient 7-of-11 shooting performance. Sorenson produced a well-rounded outing as she also grabbed five rebounds, four steals and handed out two assists.
Madi Orth was a problem for Delta throughout the evening as she scored 16 points and gathered 13 rebounds in a double-double effort. Orth also protected the rim with ferocity as she logged all six of Carbon’s blocks.
Amiah Timothy scored 14 points and dished out eight assists. Jacie Jensen also helped push the offense along as she ended with 15 points.
Tuesday’s win moves Carbon’s overall record to 7-4 and division mark to 2-0. The Lady Dinos are currently ranked No. 3 in the latest UHSAA RPI standings.
Carbon will now pause for the Christmas break, giving the team a full nine days off. The next scheduled game is set for Thursday, Dec. 28 on the road against the Juab Wasps.
