The Emery Spartans played host to the Carbon Dinos and Uintah Utes in the final swim meet before Christmas break Tuesday afternoon at the Emery County Aquatic Center.

The Emery Lady Spartans used a variety of depth scoring to push into second place, finishing with 276 points. Carbon ended as the top girls’ team at the meet with 315 points. Uintah finished third with 130.

The Spartans also logged a second-place nod on the boy’s side of the pool as the group gathered 249 points. Uintah ended at the top of the leaderboard with 347 points. Carbon finished third with 144.

Melody Lake led the Lady Spartans as she posted two individual wins and joined one relay team for first place finishes. Competing in the 200-yard free, Lake finished with a time of 2:18.12 in the finals, topping the competitive field. She later defeated teammate Carley Young for first place in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Lake teamed with Jessie Childs, Illyria Mason, and Purity Mason to take home the top spot in the 200-yard free relay. The group finished with a time of 1:56.67.

Emery will now enter the lengthy Christmas break, going idle in competition until January 5 when they travel to the Red Rock Invitational.

Only four meets remain on the schedule ahead of the Region 12 Championship, which will take place in Cedar City on Feb. 2.
