The first game of 2024 brought a familiar result to the Spartan Center, as Emery extended its winning streak to nine with a 67-50 win over the San Juan Broncos Tuesday night.

Playing in the final non-region game of the season, the Spartans started slow but finished the first half fast as they developed a comfortable double-digit lead. The margin never wavered over the final two quarters as head coach Dave Justice was able to clear his bench early in the fourth quarter.

Both teams came out and played even in the first quarter tying things up at 11. In the second quarter, the Spartans came out and found their offense, scoring 29 and holding the Broncos to just 11, taking the 40-22 lead into the locker room at the half.

In the second half, Emery truly put the game out of reach putting up 15 in the quarter and pushing the score heading into the final eight minutes to 55-29. The Spartans let off the gas in the fourth giving up 21 to the Broncos but still controlling the game to take the 67-50 victory.

Luke Justice scored a game-high 20 points, 11 of which came in the second quarter, to lead the Spartans to the win. Zack Tuttle also reached double-figures as he poured in 11 points, scoring seven in the second. Scott Johansen added 8 for Emery in the win.
