The Emery Spartan girl’s basketball team has been off since December 19, when they dropped a region match-up with Richfield. On Thursday they were back at it, in the Spartan Center, when they got back on track with a win over Manti 67-39.

The Lady Spartans took a 59-53 loss back before Christmas break at the hands of the Richfield Wildcats.

On Thursday night, it was all Lady Spartans, all the time. Emery opened up a 20-6 lead in the first quarter and continued to pour it on in the second, truly puting the game out of reach with 24 in the quarter and heading to the locker room at halftime up 44-13.

After the work that they put in in the first half, in the second half the Lady Spartans maintained a safe lead over the Lady Templars, and after scoring 44 in the first half, they scored just 23 in the second half but it was more than enough as they cruised to a 67-39 victory.

Aliya Lester scored 17 for Emery adding four rebounds, an assist and a steal. Saige Curtis had 12 with three boards and one assist and Karleigh Stilson scored 11 while dishing out five assists and grabbing three steals and one rebound.

The Lady Spartans are now sitting at 7-5 overall and have a 2-2 region record, they are also occupying the No. 9 spot in the RPI.

Emery heads back to the court on Tuesday when they will face Canyon View in the Spartan Center.

Game time is set for 7:00 p.m..
