Carbon wrestlers got back to it over the weekend in Vernal at the Tournament of Champions. Over two days 34 schools from throughout Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming. After two days the Carbon boys grabbed the 30th spot and the Lady Dinos ended in eighth place out of 18 schools.

In the boy’s division, Uintah earned first followed by Juab in second. Payson, Meeker, and Green River, Wyoming rounded out the top five.

Brax Tapia (132 pounds) finished the weekend with a record of 2-2 winning his matches by fall. Kaden Winterton (113), Trevor Jones (120), Preston Martinez (150), and Gavin Fausett (175) all finished the weekend 1-2.

The top spot in the girl’s division went to Uintah, followed by North Ridge. Union, Duchesne, and Pinedale completed the top five.

The Lady Dinos had five wrestlers finish top six or better. At 235 pounds, Grace Lamd earned a third-place finish with a 4-1 record.  Codi Shaw at 113 also took third in her class with a 3-1 mark. Lilly Clark  (155) claimed fourth with a 2-2 record. Madison Arroyo (190) claimed fifth with a 4-2 record and EmmaParker (125) went 2-3 finishing in sixth.

Up next for Carbon, the boy’s team will travel to Richfield on Wednesday, also the Lady Dinos will travel to Duchesne.
