The Pinnacle Panther boys basketball squad got things up and rolling in late November, starting the season off on the right foot with a win against Merit Prep Academy 66-64 in overtime. Since they have put together some wins and some losses but are heading into the second half of the season with a 6-5 overall record. 

After the win at Merit, the Panthers slipped a little losing their next three contests with a pair of losses coming at the hands of Tintic back-to-back and then another on the road at Maeser Prep. 

Pinnacle then went on a tear of sorts stringing together five straight including a perfect 4-0 performance during the Winter Classic. 

Losses at No. 4 Piute 10-2,  and then another loss at home against No. 11 Whitehorse 6-6, in double overtime 81-77, put Pinnacle in the No. 14 slot in the latest RPI as they head into Tuesday night’s contest when Altamont comes to town. 

The Panthers have been led all season long by senior Cole Barton who is averaging 29.1 points per game, which is tops in the state of Utah across all classes. He also leads the state in free throws made with 73. Bartons also averages 2.5 steals per game to lead the team. 

Brody Howell, a sophomore is grabbing 9.5 rebounds per game putting him just outside the top 10 in the state. Joey Howell another sophomore sits at 3.8 assists per game.  

The Panthers head back to the court Tuesday when they welcome Altamont to the Pinnacle gym.
