Jay Ralph Martin, 76, completed his sojourn on this mortal coil, January 7, 2024.

He was born October 11, 1947 in Price, Utah to James Lyle and Jeanne Erickson Martin.  Married Kerry Seely Perri, 1970 in Price; they later divorced.  On February 14, 2007, he married Cynthia Jo Lowry in Price, Utah.

Jay was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and a very proud grandpa and great-grandpa who was always the twinkle of his mother’s eye.   Family meant everything to him, from stopping by to say hi, to getting together in the back yard where he could barbecue for everyone.  Jay always wanted everyone to be together and have something to eat.  He loved his motorcycle; it was the most joyous time he spent with his daughter and they shared a very special ride with her on Father’s Day.  He took care of everyone, always making sure that family members got their hay from his fields out back, where he’d watch the sunset and sunrises from his porch.  Jay took the most beautiful pictures of the moon and he enjoyed capturing the string of lights that his loving brother Jim strung up the cliff for the world to see.  He was a lover of photography and he had every lens in the world to capture every moment.  He loved sharing his view of art, whether through a picture or on paper.  He was an avid wood worker who enjoyed carving bowls, eggs, even a bench right down to his last project.  He loved getting pictures from his daughter Alicia of his grandbabies.

Jay was a longtime resident of Carbon County and a graduate of Carbon High School Class of 1965.  After graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy and had the pleasure of serving aboard the USS Kennedy.  After serving his country, Jay returned to Carbon County and began working in various coal mines in Emery County where he eventually retired from Pacific Corp.

Jay was a member of Price Elk’s Lodge # 1550 where he was a Past Exalted Ruler and he also served as the State Photographer for the Elk’s Lodge.  He honorably served in the US Navy and was a proud member of the V.F.W. Miner’s Post #2379 and a life member of American Legion Post #3.

Jay is survived by his wife, Cindy Martin, Helper; daughters, Jalynn Martin Snider, Helper, Alicia (Billy) Kelley, Lake Powell; step-sons, Juston Andreason, Price, Jayde of Salt Lake; five grandchildren, Cassie (Jesse), Andie (Zach), McKennzie (Aaron), Daniel Jay and BreAnna Kerry; seven great-grandchildren, Drake, Bexley, Taiden, Charlie, Ella, Finn and Theo; brothers and sisters, James (Judy) Martin, Huntington, John (Nancy) Martin, Glenwood Springs, CO., Janet (Lew) Korenko, Price, Jane Ellen (Terry) Jaramillo, Price, Judi (Ringo) Schade, Price, Mary (Brent) Wilder, Wellington, Alice (Vance) Fonnesbeck, California, Ruby (Phillip) Greer, Oregon, Nelda (Brent) Davies, Alaska; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and a community of friends.
