Our little buddy, Amadeo “Amaday” Jose Martinez, age 78, rode away peacefully on January 15th, 2024. Amaday was born on November 12th, 1945 in Capulin, New Mexico to Joe A. and Senaida Valdez Martinez. Married Nedra Dawn Wagner on December 6th, 1975. Together they had one daughter, Karen Dawn Martinez.

He was a long-time resident of Carbon County where he worked and retired from Utah Power and Light/PacifiCorp as a Journeyman Mechanic. He was also a member of IBEW Local 57 and retired from the Carbon Steam Plant.

Amaday was a lifelong farmer and rancher. His prize possession was his farm, which he worked and maintained until the very end. He also enjoyed hunting, particularly muzzle loading, fishing, horseback riding, and weekly drives in the mountains. Amaday also raised and trained tracking dogs which he used to hunt mountain lions.

He was very proud of his only child, Karen; and his two beautiful granddaughters Destiny and Kaylie. He loved to share his stories and hobbies with his girls and could be seen driving up and down the farm on the “Beep Beep” bike.

Amaday is survived by Nedra Martinez, daughter, Karen Martinez, Price; granddaughters, Destiny (Daymon) Dodge, American Fork; Kaylie “Bubba” (Derik) Riley, Millcreek; and two farm dogs. He is also survived by one sister, Effie Roberts; and one brother, Pat Martinez. Preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and one sister.

Funeral service, Friday, January 19, 2024, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main St.), where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
