
Amiah Timothy led the Lady Dinos with 25 as they remain perfect in league play after their win on Tuesday night in Cedar City at Canyon View High School 66-53. The Dinos used a big second quarter to put the game away early and move their overall record to 12-4.
Carbon hasn’t lost since December 16 at the hands of Kanab during tournament play. They have strung together six straight wins as they head into the second half of the region season.
In the first quarter, both teams came out firing with the Lady Dinos putting up 16 on the Falcons, holding them to 14. In the second, Carbon went to work both offensively and defensively, putting up 22 and clamping down allowing Canyon View just 9 points and taking a sizeable 38-23 lead to the locker room.
The second half was just maintenance for the Lady Dinos as the lead was never really in jeopardy. In the fourth, Canyon View would cut it to 10, 61-51 when the Falcon’s Maya Nichols hit both free throws after a foul by Madi Ferguson with less than 1 minute to go, but the Dinos held on for the 66-53 win.
To go along with her 25 points, Timothy added five rebounds, eight assists, and four steals. Madi Orth scored 18 grabbing six boards, three assists, and seven steals. Kylan Sorenson and Bailey Curtis each scored eight and each had six rebounds, Sorenson added an assist, and Curtis grabbed a pair of steals.
Thursday night the Lady Dinos will be back on the road when they travel to face North Sanpete. And then will be back home on Tuesday to face Juab.
