Price City each month sends a representative to Castle Country Radio to keep listeners posted or informed on various topics. This month brought in Price City Community Director, Nick Tatton to talk about snow removal and water conservation

Our area has received some snow and we have seen the plows out working hard on those days trying to clear the streets, as Tatton explains, “The courtesy of stay out of the way of the plows, those guys are working long hours, they’re out at weird hours depending when the snow comes. They’ve got priority routes for public safety and schools and things like that. Of course, when there’s a bit of snow the driveway gets filled in, that you just shoveled out, and it happens to all of us. But have a little courtesy, have a little patience, they’re doing a great job, and try and keep your cars off the road and out of the way.” Keep in mind that the city plows will clear the main collector roads, particularly those surrounding our public safety and public schools and health facilities.

As for homeowners’ responsibilities when our area experiences a snowstorm, they are responsible to clear walkways around their home, especially all public sidewalks.  “They way the ordinance works on that is the frontages, the adjoining sides of your property, which a frontage may not be in front all of the time; but your responsible to keep those areas clear and safe, in general that means you shovel your sidewalks out front of your home,” stated Tatton. Sidewalks should be cleared within 24 hours of a snowstorm for safe passage of pedestrians.

Although we are in the winter season, city officials still work on ways to conserve water. “There’s a lot of work the city is doing right now on water and water resources. But every year, even with the big year we had last year, and this year is kind of catching up a little bit now. We do want to encourage everybody to conserve and be water wise, particularly in the yards and those kinds of things. But a lot of work going on behind the scenes with water efforts to make sure that there’s valuable sources of water for this community for many, many, years beyond all of us,” said Tatton. To stay informed on the city happenings, you are invited to attend City Council Meetings on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 5:30 pm.
