011-5

After notching region wins in their last two games against Canyon View and North Sanpete, the Dinos were on the road Wednesday in Nephi to take on the Juab Wasps. The Wasps had a big second quarter and the Dinos a big third but Juab did enough to take the 54-49 win.

Carbon had a pair of great games starting with the win over then No. 2 Canyon View 62-58, and followed that up with an equally impressive 80-62 win over North Sanpete.

The game started with both teams playing pretty closely as the Wasps took the early lead 15-13. Juab came out in the second quarter firing dropping 16 on the Dinos while defensively holding them to nine as the Wasps would take a 31-22 lead into halftime.

If the second quarter was all Juab, then the third quarter was all Carbon. The Dinos jumped out on Juab putting on the clamps allowing the Wasps just seven points, and putting up 15, pulling within one, 38-37. The fourth was a showdown, as the two teams fought through the final eight minutes, going back and forth, but the Wasps had just enough to hold on for the 54-49 win.

Kahner Raby put up 17 points to lead the Dinos and pulled down 13 boards. Zeke Wilson had 12 points with four rebounds and a pair of assists, and Ryker Butler scored eight with eight rebounds and three assists.

The Dinos fall to 7-10 overall and hold a 3-5 Region 12 mark. They still hold on to the No. 10 spot in the RPI, which will come into play when the postseason starts on February 14.

The Dinos will have to sleep fast as they now have to turn around on Thursday and face the Rabbits in Delta.

Delta is coming off a big win on Wednesday night over the Emery Spartans, 62-55.

The game in Delta will be broadcast on KRPX 95.3 The Peak, “Where the Dinos Play”, as well as streaming at castlecountryradio.com and the Castle Country Radio app.

Coverage will start with the Landon’s Diesel Service Pre-game Show at 6:30 and tip-off will follow at 7:00 p.m..
