The Carbon Dino girls’ basketball team has been pushing their way through the region part of the schedule. On Thursday night, they welcomed the Delta Rabbits to Price and kept their perfect region record intact, beating the Rabbits 61-42.

Carbon moves its overall record to 15-4 with a perfect 9-0 Region 12, with only four games remaining.

The first half started quietly enough as both teams went to work methodically, not letting either get too far out of reach, with Carbon holding a small 13-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter didn’t see much distance put between the two teams either, as the Lady Dino lead grew to 29-22 at halftime.

It was the third quarter when Carbon would make their move turning up the defensive intensity, and holding Delta to six points, while on the other end of the court, the Dinos put up 22 taking a comfortable lead going into the final quarter. In the fourth, the Lady Dinos dialed things back but continued to get the job done, pushing their way to the 61-42 victory.

Amaih Timothy, who was just named the McDonald’s UHSAA Athlete of the Week, lived up to her billing scoring 20 with six steals, four rebounds, and a pair of assists. Jacie Jensen also put up 20 with four rebounds, three steals, and one assist. Madi Ferguson had five with three boards and Madi Orth had five with six steals, five rebounds, and a pair of assists in the win.

Carbon holds on to the No.3 spot in the RPI, and with four games left including a home game with No. 2 Richfield, a road game at No. 13 Manti, and then closing out the regular season at home with contests against No. 9 Emery and No. 6 Canyon View. The Lady Dinos should be more than ready for the State Tournament when it starts on February 13.

The Lady Dinos are back at it on Tuesday when they take on the Richfield Wildcats at home.
