Spartan wrestling closed out the regular season on Thursday night at the Spartan Center when they invited Maple Mountain to Castle Dale. Earning eight wins in the meet the Spartans took the 42-30 win on Senior night.
Emery goes all out for the final home match every season, at the end of the dual, the alumni matches start and it is just a great way to end the regular home season.
Ty Christiansen got the Spartans on the board first with the win at 106 by pin. Dixon Peacock earned the victory over his opponent at 120 pounds, as did Ryan Collard at 126 and Derrick Birch at 132. Damon Farley at 150 won by pin as well. Senior Boden Christman at 157 earned a win by pin. Devon Byers won by pin at 175.
Emery had a pair of forfeits at 190 and 215, and Maple Mountain forfeited at 285.
Even though it’s tournament time, Emery will be at home for the divisional round at the Spartan Center on February 2 & 3. The State Tournament will take place in Orem at Utah Valley University, on February 16 & 17.
