The Genisis Pregnancy Center (GPC) is a faith-based non-profit organization that serves individuals in Carbon and Emery Counties. They rely heavily on generous donations from the public to be able to offer their services like pregnancy tests, peer counseling, parenting lessons, adoption referrals, baby store, community assistance and pre-natal classes.
The organization is hoping to receive help from the community as they are currently hosting their annual Baby Bottle Fundraiser. “It’s that time of year for our annual Baby Bottle Fundraiser for the Genisis Pregnancy Center. You may know us as Castle Country Pregnancy Resource Center, we did a name change. Our Baby Bottle campaign is running from now till Feb. 15 and you will see our large baby bottles throughout Price and Huntington and Helper there at various businesses and we also have them at churches,” said GPC Representative, Monica Lambert. All the funds earned through the Baby Bottle Fundraiser will assist the GPC with operating costs as they have been struggling financially.
The non-profit organization is currently running with the help of two volunteers, as the organization had to lay-off their director. “The end of last year was extremely hard for us. During the year last year, we lost half of our donors because of that in December we had to make the very difficult decision to let our director go. She was our only paid employee, the rest of us our volunteers. We also had to reduce our hours form Tuesday to Thursday, noon to 4:00 pm. So like Dave said, we depend solely on your donations and we would like to expand our hours again and we really need to hire our director back,” said Lambert. Right now, without a director the organization is unable to offer some important classes to parents like their Birthing Academy classes and their Pregnancy Loss classes.
It’s not only monetary donations that are needed but the organization is in need of baby items such as diapers, wipes, clothes, blankets. Right now, they are in need of maternity clothes, as Lambert explains, “We’re having an issue with maternity clothes, our main issue is donations and having monthly donors so that we can keep our doors open, we can expand our hours back to what they were and we can hire our director back.” Right now, the goal is to get at least 100 monthly donors to help assist the GPC.
If you would like to become a monthly donor or would like to make monetary donation towards the cause please stop by the Genisis Pregnancy Center at 836 East 100 North, Suite #5 or call them at (435) 637-5683, Tuesday through Thursday from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
