Laurie Murdock, age 71, passed away on January 28, 2024, surrounded by family at home in Miller Creek, Utah. Laurie lived her entire life on the Chiaretta Family Farm. She spent her childhood weeding rows of sugar beets, getting into trouble with her brothers and sister, and being outside. She graduated from Carbon High School and had a successful cleaning business for many years. She made lifelong friendships with several of her clients and kept in touch, even after closing her business. She married Larry Murdock on August 25, 1973. Together they had two children, Sara and Jake. As a family they spent time together camping in the mountains and boating on Lake Powell.
Laurie was the chief, cook, and bottle washer. She always made sure everyone had eaten and would cook you a meal if you hadn’t. Laurie loved her family and friends deeply. She took care of everyone that would let her and even those that would not.
Laurie arrived too early as a premature twin and fought to live. She left us too early battling cancer.
Laurie is survived by her husband, Larry Murdock; her children, Sara (Eric) McCarty, Jake Murdock; grandchildren, Makenna, Ashton, and Aubrie; siblings, Denise Chiaretta, Eric Chiaretta.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Joyce Chiaretta; sister, Lisa; brother, Jon Chiaretta; and grandson, Aiden Murdock. The family would like to thank her care team at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and Rocky Mountain Hospice, specifically Angela.
