The girl’s basketball season is slowly coming to a close with just a few games remaining in the regular season. Tuesday night the Lady Spartans traveled to Manti to take on the Templars. Emery used a big third and fourth quarter to put the Templars away 64-46.

Coming off a loss last Thursday to the Wildcats in Richfield,  the Lady Spartans were looking to get back on track Tuesday in Manti.

The first half was played as even as you could get without it being a tie, as Manti came out taking a two-point lead 12-10. In the second quarter, the Lady Spartans outscored the Templars pulling within one point, going to the locker room down 28-27.

In the second half, Emery took control, putting up 18 in the third and another 19 in the fourth. Defensively they turned up their intensity holding Manti to 18 total points in the half. The Lady Spartans would hold on to take the 64-46 win.

Katelyn Nielson and Kenadie Maughn each scored 16 for Emery while Kali Jensen added 11.

Emery sits at 11-8 overall and carries a 6-5 Region 12 mark sitting in the No. 9 spot in the RPI with two games remaining.

Thursday, they will make the long road trip to Cedar City to face the Canyon View Falcons.

They will close out the season next Tuesday when they will make the trip to Price to face the Carbon Lady Dinos.
