Ad Mara Mary Ruggeri, the daughter of A. John and Margaret Price Ruggeri, was born on a cold and snowy Christmas Day 1948 in Price, Utah. She weighed in at about 4 pounds more or less. But while she lacked in size she excelled in tenacity and determination.

She was welcomed home by her sister, Evadne and her grandparents, John and Pauline Ruggeri. Later she was joined by her brother, John Price Ruggeri in 1957. He preceded her in death.

As a child Ad Mara enjoyed playing with the neighborhood children, her sister, and her cousins when they came to Price to visit. She also determined that she was going to join her sister’s group of friends and was successful to a degree.

Ad Mara completed her primary and high school studies at the local schools and participated in after school activities. She made friends easily and enjoyed spending time with them.  She enjoyed swimming in the summer and ice skating in the winter when the “north pond” was frozen.  She excelled in dancing classes and while not a virtuoso was able to play the piano. She seemed to have an artistic flair but was never able to fully develop or utilize it.

Following high school, she enrolled at Buena Vista College where she met her future husband. After their marriage they lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota for a short time before moving to San Diego, California. There she worked at Carl’s Glass Company. She enjoyed her work and the friendships she made there.

When her marriage fell apart, she moved back to Price to be with and help her father who had been living alone after her mother’s death. In addition, she worked for awhile as an aide at the Castle Valley Center.

Her health began to decline after her father died.  When she was unable to do many of the things, she had enjoyed she withdrew from associations with other people and spent her time and energy caring for her pets and those she took in.

Ad Mara passed away in her childhood home on January 30, 2024. (Her dog Missy and her cat Mr. were with her).

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Evadne and Darrell Goodhue and their family.
