Carbon Boy’s basketball was back on the road on Wednesday night to take on the Richfield Wildcats. The regular season is winding down and every game left on the schedule is critical. The Wildcats used a big second quarter to take control, handing the Dinos the 60-42 loss.

Carbon was coming off a win last Thursday in Delta, while the Wildcats were handed a 53-39 loss by the Emery Spartans last Friday night in Castle Dale. Both teams are looking to solidify their spot on the RPI as the State Championships are approaching.

Coming out in the first quarter both teams were relatively quiet with Richfield holding a one-point advantage at the end. The second quarter was where the Wildcats made their move defensively holding the Dinos to four points while putting up 22 and carrying the 33-14 lead to the locker room for the half.

The second half was back to basics for both squads as Richfield did just enough to maintain a comfortable lead over Carbon, with the Dinos outscoring the Wildcats by one in the third and then both teams would play even in the fourth, as the Dinos were handed the 60-42 loss.

Kahner Raby led the way for the Dinos with 12, pulling down seven boards, with three assists and three blocks. Zeke Wilson added 11 to go with four rebounds and a pair of steals, and Ryker Butler had seven with a pair of rebounds and a pair of blocks.

Carbon slips to 8-11 this season with a 4-7 Region 12 mark, and still holds the No. 10 spot in the RPI.  The Dinos have three games left in the regular season with their next two at home against Manti (2/2) and Emery (2/7), then close things out on the road in Cedar City to take on Canyon View.

Friday night the Manti Templars come to town and bring their 15-6 record and No. 4 spot in the RPI with them.
