021-4

The Dinos regular season is coming to a close with just a couple more contests on the schedule before playoff time. On Friday night they welcomed the Manti Templars to Price. Manti came into the game as one of the top programs in 3A, and they played like it handing the Dinos the 80-52 loss.

Carbon will end the regular season on February 9, in Cedar City, as they face Canyon View.  The opening round of the State Championships will begin on February 14.

Manti came out in the first quarter and went straight to work, putting up 17 on the Dinos who struggled to find their offense early putting up just six points as the Templars would set the tone. In the second quarter the Dinos came out swinging putting up 19 and cutting into the Templar lead, but still trailing by 10 at the half.

The third was a bit of a letdown from Carbon’s run in the second quarter as they only put up 10 points and were doubled up by the Templars who scored 20 moving into the fourth.  Carbon put forth a great effort in the final quarter, but the lead that Manti built was too much to overcome as the Dinos lost 80-52.

Kahner Raby led Carbon in scoring with 16 points, to go with his four rebounds and a pair of blocks. Zeke Wilson scored 10 with a rebound and three assists and Rydge Butler added six, with three steals and an assist.

The loss puts Carbon at 8-12 overall with a 4-8 Region 12 mark. The final RPI will be released on February 10 along with the bracket for the 3A State Championships that start on February 14 at home sites.

The Dinos get back on the floor Wednesday night when they face the Emery Spartans (16-5, 8-4) in Price for “Senior Night”.

The game will be broadcast KRPX 95.3 The Peak and can be streamed at castlecountryradio.com, as well as the Castle Country Radio app.
