Emery High School hosted the divisional round for 3A over the weekend and a pair of Spartan wrestlers earned top finishes in their weight class. Monty Christiansen at 113 and Damon Farley at 150 made it through the weekend a perfect 4-0 with both wrestlers taking the top spot.
South Summit was the top team scoring 312.5 points, Morgan came in second with 280.5. North Sanpete finished in third, Emery claimed fourth, and Carbon fifth.
Along with Christiansen and Farley’s top finishes, Emery qualified 13 other wrestlers for state competition, placing in the top eight in your class allowed you to punch your ticket to the State Championships in Richfield at the Sevier Valley Center.
Corbin Jensen finished the weekend 3-2 claiming fourth in the 113 weight class while Dixon Peacock, who also finished 3-2, landed in fifth. Ryan Collard (126), Derrick Birch (132), Mason Stewart (138), and Hazen Meccariello (165) all finished with a 3-2 record as well. Benjamin Farley at 144 pounds finished with a 4-2 mark as well.
The Spartans head to Richfield for the final matches of the season on February 16 & 17 for the State championships.
