Emery swimmers joined the rest of Region 12 in Cedar City as Canyon View hosted the championship tournament. Last Friday and Saturday all schools competed and when the water settled the Emery boys earned a second-place finish and the girls took third.

Carbon took the top spot in the girl’s division edging out host school Canyon View by 60 points 494-434. Emery followed in third and Richfield and North Sanpete made up the rest of the top five.

Melody Lake earned a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.78, Carley Young was right behind in second and Acelyn Migliori finished ninth. Lake also swam to a second-place finish in the 500 free. Jessie Childs took fourth in the 50 free and seventh in the 100 free. Brooklyn O’Neil took seventh in the 100 fly and Purity Mason ninth. O’Neil also claimed eighth in the 200 medley, and Mason and Illyria Mason finished seventh and eighth in the 100-yard backstroke. Annie Johnson claimed a tenth-place finish in the 200 free.

In relays, the Lady Spartans were third in the 200 free relay, and fourth in both the 200 medley and 400 medley.

Host Canyon View took first in the boy’s division, followed by Emery in second place. Richfield, Carbon, and Manti made up the remainder of the top five.

Relays got the Spartans off to a good start as they took first place in the 200 medley turning in a time of 1:51.9. In the 200 free it was a second-place finish and another second-place finish in the 400 relay.

Parker Jensen earned a pair of second-place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200 medley. Kade Larsen finished third and Trek Petersen fifth in the 100 breaststroke. Petersen finished fourth in the 200 medley and Jaxson Durant finished ninth. Tyler Frandsen earned third in the 100-yard backstroke, Tyson Laws took seventh and Gideon Mecham finished ninth. Adam Olsen earned a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 100-free and the 50-free, Frandsen finished fifth in the 50 and Chase Huggard ninth. Larsen also earned a fifth-place finish in the 200 free.
