It’s time to sit down with Emery County Commissioner Jordan Leonard who was happy to report on the last commission meeting, highlight the maintenance/cleaning department and share details on Valentine’s event in Huntington. Castle Country Radio has the opportunity every other week to speak with the commissioner to keep citizens informed on the latest news and events.

At the last commission meeting there was discussion on rebranding the county. “We did open bids for marketing and rebranding. We’re looking at the brand Life Energized. We’re an energy producing county and we’re also recreation focused so we felt like Life Energized would be a good slogan there,” said Commissioner Leaonard. It was unknown when acceptance of bids would end and when the new branding campaign would begin.

A local youth livestock group was present during the commission meeting to request some funding for their annual livestock show.  “We talked about and had the youth from the Castle Country Classic Livestock Show present and ask for a donation. So this is a livestock show for Carbon and Emery youth that raise animals and show them. I’ve been to that event the last couple of years and it’s just fantastic, so we were able to donate to them,” said Commissioner Leonard.

With every radio interview with Commissioner Leonard, he always takes time to highlight a department for a job well done. “It’s our maintenance/cleaning staff. They just do a fantastic job keeping the offices clean. I mean we come home, we come back to the office the next day, and the garbage is out and the carpets are cleaned. We are also looking at doing some renovations to our current courthouse so Kyle and his staff they’ve been amazing to not only keep it clean, but help projects to help. Just want to give a shout out to their staff,” explained Commissioner Leonard. Residents are asked to congratulate members of the maintenance/cleaning department when they see them.

Finally, Commissioner Leanord wanted to remind members of the community about the Huntington Elementary Valentines Carnival on Friday, Feb. 9 at 5:00 pm. “There’s a Valentines activity at the Huntington Elementary, Feb. 9, Friday, it’s open to the public. There will be games and activities. Just kind of a fun Valentines get together for the community so if you’re interested in attending that, that would be great. It’s in the evening,” said Commissioner Leonard. There will  be food available for purchase plus $5.00 carnival passes will be sold at the door.
