
Six Emery High School senior student-athletes have been recognized for their excellence in the classroom during the 2023-24 winter season with a selection to the Academic All-State team in their respective sport by the Utah High School Activities Association and the Deseret News.
Individuals are selected for the award based on their athletic ability and academic proficiency. The Academic All-State award is decided by either meeting an index score (view here) or having a 4.0 unweighted grade point average.
The Spartan Swim team had three members receive honors. Chase Huggard and Tyler Frandsen on the boy’s side and Elizabeth Carroll for the Lady Spartans. The swim team hits the pool on Friday and Saturday at Brigham Young University for the 3A State Championships.
Boy’s and girl’s basketball also added three members. Zack Tuttle and Wade Stilson from the boy’s team and Karleigh Stilson were awarded for their excellence in the classroom as well as on the hardwood. Both teams will be back on the court this weekend for the second round of the 3A State Championships. The No. 2 Emery boys will face the winner of the Summit Academy/Ben Lomond contest at the Spartan Center on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.. The No. 5 Lady Spartans will face Manti on Friday night also at the Spartan Center, game time is set for 7:00 p.m..
