Castle Country Radio is conducting weekly Legislative updates with Representative Christine F. Watkins while the general session is taking place this year. She will give a brief report on the dealings taking place on the hill twice a week, so she took time on Wednesday to speak over the telephone about Botox Parties and Senate Bill 189

There is a new fad taking place in the state called Botox Parties that licensed nurses can conduct. “The bill is requesting that these nurses can use telemedicine to have the initial visit with a doctor, they can’t do it unless they have an initial visit with a doctor or nurse practitioner. The bill did pass unanimously was to allow the patient and nurse injector to meet with these people online,” said Representative Watkins.

Next up for discussion is Senate Bill 189 – Net Metering Energy Amendments. “What they want to do with this bill is to require Rocky Mountain Power to fairly credit residents for generating excess energy through rooftop solar. As of right now, Rocky Mountain does not give the people who are using solar full credit for what they are generating,” said Representative Watkins. The bill has gone through but has yet to go through the house side but it would give credit to customers currently using solar power.

The Utah State Board of Education has recently been in the news lately because of the actions of board member, Natalie Cline who made comments and implied a student was transgender.  “On the floor, Friday morning, we voted on a resolution that allows us to continue investigating and coming up with a decision. No one else can do this, not even the State School Board. They have certain rules that they aren’t allowed to remove a member of the board because they are elected, we can as a legislator,” explained Representative Watkins. So they have started the process of the investigation and it could either lead to censorship or impeachment for Natalie Cline.
