The Emery Spartans completed the 2023-24 swim season Saturday afternoon in Provo at Brigham Young University.
Competing against 19 other schools, the Emery boys finished seventh overall as they gathered 121 points. Judge Memorial clinched the state championship with a team score of 335, knocking off second place Canyon View by 11 points. Ogden Juan Diego and Union rounded out the top five.
The 200-medley relay team gave the Emery boys its highest event finish as they ended in fifth place. The group consisting of Tyler Frandsen, Trek Petersen, Will Stilson and Kade Larsen ended with a time of 1:50.52.
Relays were the main source of Emery’s points as they would log two more top six finishes.
The 200-freestyle relay team made up of Adam Olsen, Parker Jensen, Larsen and Frandsen ended with a time of 1:36.52, placing them sixth overall. Olsen, Stilson, Jensen and Chase Huggard also finished sixth in the 400-freestyle relay, as the ended with a time of 3:41.63.
The Emery Lady Spartans finished 12th overall as the team scored 89 points throughout the 11 events. Judge Memorial earned the state championship with 320 points, defeating second-place Carbon. Canyon View, Juan Diego, and Ogden completed the top five.
Melody Lake ended as the top swimmer for the Lady Spartans, finishing inside the top eight in three events.
Lake turned out her top performance in the 100-breaststroke as she finished fifth overall with a time of 1:13.36. She also delivered a time of 6:04.85 in the 500-freestyle, which was good enough for sixth place.
The 200-freestyle relay team consisting of Lake, Jessie Childs, Illyria Mason, and Purity Mason finished eighth overall.
