A Bolder Way Forward movement is hosting a Coalition Meeting on Feb. 26 at 6:00 pm at the Emery County Administration Building at 75 East Main Street in Castle Dale. Castle Country Radio was able to speak over the telephone with Event Representative, Patsy Stoddard to get all the details.
“A Bolder Way Forward it comes from the Utah Women and Leadership Project up at the Utah State campus up in Logan. The leader of this project is Susan Madsen she’s a doctor. The program that they’ve developed The Bolder Way Forward, they are starting a coalition in each of the 29 counties in Utah and we are part of the Emery County Coalition. We had our first meeting in Jan. and our next meeting is coming up on Feb. 26,” stated Stoddard. Studies show women and girls are not thriving in critical areas in Utah so the primary aim of A Bolder Way Forward is to help more Utah women and girls thrive.
A Bolder Way Forward plans to cover five categories Education, Health & Wellbeing, Safety & Security, Workplace and Community Engagement. “So with the coalition that we are looking at each of these focus areas and we are taking the things that are already in place, like there is already a Domestic Violence Council and there’s a lot of things that are already in place. So we’re just going to involve all of those people that are leaders in these areas already in our county and we’re just going to look at them and we’re going to help strengthen what is already in place and make it better,” explained Stoddard. If there is a need for a particular service in the Emery County area, they will develop something to fit that need.
If you are unable to attend the Coalition Meeting on Feb. 26 but would like more information about A Bolder Way Forward, Stoddard explains, “Dr. Susan Madsen she’s the one that’s really excited and focused on this movement, it’s amazing to hear her speak. If any of you are interested in joining in then make sure you get on the Utah State University website and find Dr. Madsen and listen to what she says about A Bolder Way Forward. She’s just so excited about it that it will just make you excited to be a part of it and to try to make things better for the ladies and girls in our community.”
