
Stanley “Stan” B. Gibson, age 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
Stan was born on August 7, 1946 in Price, Utah to Wallace and Katherine Gibson. He grew up with four siblings in Castle Gate, Utah. Stan and his brothers spent their time playing in the finely ground coal, where they became completely black, except for their eyes and teeth.
Before settling down, Stan joined the United States Airforce and served his country for four years. Stan met the love of his life, Maurine Rushton in Moab, Utah. They married in 1965. While in the service, they welcomed their first son, Terry Gibson in 1966. After leaving the service, Stan and Maurine moved their family to Lindon and American Fork, Utah where they welcomed their son, Shawn L. Gibson in 1974. They made Helper, Utah their permanent home where Stan worked as a coal miner and as a diesel mechanic.
Over Stan’s life he had many hobbies including, hunting, fishing, camping, and tinkering with anything with an engine. Stan and Maurine were blessed to be surrounded by grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Stanley is survived by his beautiful wife, Maurine Gibson; son, Shawn (Nancy) Gibson; many grandchildren; a great-grandson; and siblings, Barbara (Jim) Beason and Clifford (Karen) Gibson.
Stanley was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Gibson; mother, Katherine Gibson; siblings, Lenard Gibson and Mava Gibson; and son, Terry Gibson.
The family wishes to express their many thanks to Castleview Hospital for their compassion and support in Stan’s final days as well as the Helper Ward for their love and support.
Funeral service, Thursday, February 22, 2024, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Cemetery in Helper with full Military Honors rendered by the American Legion Post 3.
