Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, James Louis Cave, age 80, passed away peacefully February 28, 2024 while surrounded by his family.

He was born September 4, 1943 in Price, Utah to William Russell and Olympia Listello Cave.  On January 26, 1963, James married Colleen M. Ericson in Wellington, Utah; their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on May 26, 1998.

James was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He was a lifelong resident of Carbon County and a retired member of the United Mine Workers of America, Deer Creek Local.  James shared a deep love for his family and the outdoors.  He was the happiest while riding ATV’s and spending time with family and friends at the cabin in Joe’s Valley.  James also enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and searching and prospecting for rocks and gold.  He will be dearly missed by his family and a community of friends.

James is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Colleen Cave; children, Michael (Dawn Nette) Cave, Corinna Shelton & Scott Eden, Steven (Shawnda) Cave; brother, Dave (Mildred) Cave; sisters, Carol Kilcrease, Gaylene (Doug) O’Brien, and Linda (John) Forbush; seven grandchildren, Patrick, Jesse (Bodi), Katrina (Carson), Kenzie (Colten), Tanner, Jordyn (Gage) and Kolton; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jolene Tucker; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Sharon) Ericson and Edwin (Gerry) Ericson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, son-in-law, Grant Shelton; sisters-in-law, Janet (John) O’Berto and Avaline Ericson, and brothers-in-law, Larry Kilcrease and Van Tucker.

Funeral service, Saturday, March 2, 2024, 1:00 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price where the family will receive friends beginning at 11:30 a.m.  Burial will be in the Wellington City Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington where friends are always daily and may share memories of James online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
