
Edward Garcia, our loving husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather passed away peacefully at home on March 4, 2024. He was born in the mining town of Crested Butte, CO on January 29, 1939 to Enrique and Socorro Garcia. They later moved the family to Helper where he worked various jobs to help his family when he was young. Ed had a special connection to his mother.
Married Tina Valdez in 1961 and had two daughters, Alane and Jackie; they later divorced. In 1995, he married Pam Sanfelice in Grand Junction.
Edward worked for Rio Grande Railroad for many years in Helper till they closed the operations down, then moved to Grand Junction to continue his work with the railroad. Edward was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church for many years and was dedicated to his faith.
Edward enjoyed going to Wendover and playing the slot machines, he especially enjoyed making his hard candy to share with his friends at church bingo. He enjoyed listening to his music and telling his stories to his kids and grandkids. He loved doing his puzzles and his home is filled with them. He loved making his spaghetti for everyone, a recipe he received from his mother. Edward had a strong work ethic all his life, which he instilled in his daughters.
A special thank you to Clay and Kathryn Rasmussen for always looking out and helping him. His bond with Clay was an incredibly special one. Special thanks to Danny and Mary Key, and Logan Brewer for their continued support. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survived by his wife, Pam; his children, Alane (Mark) Moats, Jackie (Gary) Arrington; Gino Sanfelice, Gina (Evan) Hay and Chris Sanfelice; his grandchildren, Scott (Brandi) Halverson, Derek Halverson, Holly (Kamron) Atwood, Jacob (Heather) Atwood, Shiann (Derek) Atwood, Zeke (Allie) Atwood, Erika Straus, Landon Hay, and many great-grandchildren; his siblings, Rose Christiansen; Raymond (Neida) Garcia and Henry (Ester) Garcia.
Preceded in death by his parents, Enrique and Socorro Garcia; his sister and brother-in-law, Jean (Sam) Velis; brother, Gilbert Garcia; brother-in-law, Chris Christiansen; mother-in-law, Beatrice Luckinbill and daughter, Yvette Sanfelice.
Funeral Mass, Monday, March 11, 2024, 10:00 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church, Helper, Utah. Vigil service Sunday evening 7:00 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home, Price. Family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home Sunday and Monday one hour prior to services. Committal will follow in the Mt. View Cemetery in Helper. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Edward online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
