Dino baseball was back on the field Friday and Saturday, in an away-and-home set with Grand. Friday was a road trip to Moab and the Dinos returned with the win 8-3. On Saturday, for the Dinos home opener, Carbon earned their second win of the season 10-4.
Carbon was coming off the season-opening loss last Tuesday against Uintah in Vernal.
In the first game on Friday in Moab, Carbon used a big six-run third inning, that got started when Jace Barlow hit a double to left field that scored Peyton Molinar, Michael Vigil, and Logan Bennett. The Dinos added two more runs and held the Red Devils to three in the contest to get the win.
Barlow had one hit and collected four RBI’s in the game. Maizen Prichard collected three hits and Rydge Butler had a pair of hits with a run scored.
Prichard started on the mound going four innings allowing no hits and no runs, striking out eight. Maddex Willson pitched a pair of innings surrendering three hits and three runs, one earned and striking out one, and Paxton Falk put in one inning of work, striking out two.
On Saturday the Red Devils came to Price to face the Dinos with Carbon taking the win 10-4.
Grand jumped out in the early innings taking a 3-1 lead in the middle of the third. The Dinos used a seven-run fifth to take control of the game.
In the bottom of the fifth with the score 7-3 and two outs on the board Butler stepped up to the plate hitting a single to center that scored Robert Nichols and Bennett to move the score to 9-3, each team would add one more run, as Carbon would take the win.
Barlow collected three hits, with Vigil and Prichard each getting a pair of hits, a pair of RBI’s, and a pair of runs.
Vigil got the start on the mound going three, giving up three runs on two hits, and striking out four. Stockton Kennedy entered the game putting in three innings worth of work surrendering three hits and one earned run and fanned four to get the win. Falk came in to close out the game going one inning, giving up one hit, and striking out one.
Next up for the Dinos is a home contest to start region play against North Sanpete.
