Katherine “Katie” Reinebach Blevins, age 100, passed away March 9, 2024 at the Heirloom Inn in Price.
Katie was the youngest of eight children born to George H. and Katherine Ungerbuehler Reinebach on October 27, 1923 in Payson, Illinois. Katie lived and worked on their family farm until she attended nursing school, graduating in 1943. Soon after that, she forged an independent journey out west for a job at the hospital in Dragerton, Utah, now East Carbon City. This tenacity and her can do spirit carried through all aspects of her life and has been admired by her friends and family.
On November 6, 1948, she married John Willard Blevins in Dragerton, Utah and they had three daughters, Christine, LaRue and Tara. John preceded her in death on July 19, 1972.
In 1949, she began working at the Carbon Hospital until she retired. Katie loved her job and the people she worked with, but she especially loved her patients. She often talked about how much she liked being a nurse and being with all the lifelong friends she had made through all her years in Carbon County.
Katie took great pride in taking care of her home and yard. She loved playing cards, cribbage, traveling and dancing. She was also an excellent pie maker. Katie lived in her home in East Carbon City until she moved to the Heirloom in 2014.
