The Notre Dame St. Patrick’s Day Celebration will take place after the parade on Saturday, March 16 from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Notre Dame Hope Community Center on 185 North Carbon Avenue. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Event Representative, Nick Tatton to get all the details.
“It’s a great thing for the church, great thing for the community, lot of fun to do, lot of work, but it’s fun to do. So we’ll be up there starting Friday cooking, I think it’s around 300 pounds of corned beef, and getting all the veggies, cabbage and everything ready. Of course, hotdogs and hamburgers for the kids and have a great ol’ time on Saturday the 16th,” stated Tatton.
There will be a new food item offered on this year’s menu it’s called Irish Nachos. “No we’ve had nachos before but we’re going to do Irish Nachos with the corned beef on them this year. Don’t know why we didn’t figure that out in the years gone by but part of St Patrick’s Day is green beer so sometimes you have to learn a lesson the long way,” stated Tatton. There will also be green beverages and soft drinks sold to enjoy with the food items. The cost for corned beef & cabbage lunch will be $12.00 and hamburgers & hotdogs will run $6.00. Take-out will be available again this year. All of the food items have been prepared by church members.
There will be church fundraising games to played all afternoon and evening. Everyone in the community is encouraged to come out for a fun day of food and games. “There will be some drawings, I think they’ve got some great prizes to give a way, silent auction, baked goods booth is always popular. So a good little mini festival St. Patrick’s Day event up at the Notre Dame, 200 North and Carbon Avenue, Saturday the 16th be up there anytime between noon and 8:00 pm and we’ll take good care of you,” said Tatton. This is a community event open to all ages, as there will be several activities for all ages to enjoy
All the proceeds earned from the Notre Dame St Patrick’s Day event go right back to the Notre Dame Church. “One of the things that I’m really proud of is the church does do community donations from that fundraiser so they’ll take care of a few church things but they’ll also give some of that money back to needs in the community that they’ve identified are important to them,” explained Tatton.
