The track season for the Spartans got underway on Saturday at the Farm Bureau Invitational in Price. Braving the cold March weather 20 total teams from around the state took part in the meet. The Lady Spartans tied for first with North Sevier and the boys landed in fourth.

North Sevier and Emery tied atop the girl’s leaderboard with 87 points. Union, Carbon, and Manti comprised the remaining top five.

Addie Hurst earned a first-place finish in the 3200 turning in her time of 12:53.46, she would also finish fifth in the 1600. Skylee Guymon earned a second-place finish in the 200 and third in the 100 hurdles. In the 300 hurdles, Kabree Gordon finished in third, she earned a fourth-place finish in the long jump. Addy Guymon finished in third in the 800, with Melody Lake in fifth, Guymon earned a fourth in the 1600, just behind teammate Gentry Christiansen who finished in third.  Megan Stilson claimed fourth in the high jump.

In relays, the Lady Spartans came in first in the 4×400 relay as they turned in a time of 4:18.90. They also finished third in the sprint relay.

For the boys, Juab claimed the top spot scoring 132 points. Union finished second with 99. Uintah, Emery, and Carbon made up the rest of the top five.

Camden Larsen earned a first-place finish by turning in a time of 4:40.51 in the 1600. Matthew Larsen earned two top-five finishes in the 110 hurdles taking third, and a fourth-place finish in the 300 hurdles, Olsen also claimed a third-place finish in the high jump. Jack Christiansen finished third in the 400.

The Spartans will get back on the track Friday and Saturday when they will travel to the Pine View Invitational.
