The Carbon boy’s tennis squad has been competing since March 7 and has had difficulty finding their first win. On Monday they broke through with the first win of the season, a 4-2 victory over Manti.
Zander Carrillo was the only Carbon singles player to claim a win though it wasn’t easy, taking all three sets 4-6, 6-2, and 6-4.
In the doubles competition, Carbon won in all three matches.
In 1st doubles, the team of Nicholas Bryner and Memphis Howell won in straight sets 6-2 and 6-2. the 2nd doubles team of Josiah Trostle and Carter Abbott won 6-3 and 6-1, and the 3rd doubles team Sylvian Gurule and James Tullis took the win 6-1 and 6-4.
Carbon will go back on the road Thursday when they travel to Delta for a region tilt.
