The Carbon School District weekly update shines light on the Preschool Program that the district offers. Preschool Coordinator, Beverly Martinez took some time from her busy schedule to share all the details of the Preschool Program.

Right now, the Preschool Program for the 2024-2025 school year is full. However, Bruin Point Elementary does have some openings for the 2024-2025 school year. “If you live out in East Carbon and you would like your child to go to the preschool out there next year please go ahead and give me a call at the Castle Valley Center and get on the waiting list. The other waiting list for the other schools are very full and next week I’m going to start calling people to enroll. But if you haven’t called yet, you could still get on the waiting list but it’s unlikely they would get in for next year,” explained Martinez. This program is open to children ages 3 and 4 years old that live within the Carbon School District. The Preschool Program is not funded by the state legislator so there is a tuition cost. The tuition for a 3-year-old is $60.00 per month and the 4-year-old program is $85.00 per month.

Did you know that the Preschool Program has their own page on the Carbon School District website and has many resources to help get your child ready for preschool. “So there’s a link for Preschool Path, which is Utah’s Early Learning Online Library, and its is specific to 3 to 5 year olds. There you can find a copy of the Core Standards if you’re interested in what 3 to 5 year olds should be learning. There are educational opportunities available online through the Preschool Path,” said Martinez. You can access the website by visiting Carbon School District at https://www.carbonschools.org/

Another great thing parents can do with their child to prepare them for preschool is read to them regularly. “Reading to your young child is one of the best ways that you can build language, and help get them ready for school,” said Martinez. Taking the time to read with your child is a great way to connect with one another.
