Emery softball welcomed in the Duchesne Eagles on Wednesday for a non-region tilt. Rheagan Rhoten was unhittable in the circle for the Lady Spartans as they earned the 8-2 win.

Emery sits at 7-1 this season overall and has an unblemished mark in region play.

Emery got on the board first in the bottom of the second to take a 1-0 lead into the third. In the bottom half of the inning, Madi Bunnell was able to score from third after a defensive interference call, then Kali Jensen sent a triple to right field to drive in Katelyn Nielson to push the score to 4-0. In the bottom of the sixth, Bunnell slammed the door on the Wasps as she sent one over the center field wall driving in Shannon Johnson to give the Lady Spartans the win.

Rhoten was the unstoppable force for Emery as she would get the complete game win surrendering no hits, giving up two runs, and striking out three.

Bunnell had two hits, drove in two runs, and collected two RBIs, Johnson had three hits and scored two runs. Jensen had three hits with two RBIs and Nielson had a pair of hits and scored three.

The Lady Spartans will get back on the diamond on Friday when they welcome Juab to Castle Dale.
