Lady Dino softball took their talents on the road over the weekend starting in Cedar City for a region tilt with Canyon View, then Friday and Saturday they took part in the Snow Canyon Tournament in St. George. In five games, Carbon came back with a 3-2 record.

The Dinos sit at 4-4 this season overall and hold a 3-1 record in conference play.

In the first game, a region match-up with Canyon View, the Dinos were able to hold the Falcons off the board as Kylan Sorenson got the start earning the complete game win surrendering three hits no runs, and striking out three.

Adri Abeyta was dynamite at the plate with a pair of home runs, three total hits a pair of RBIs, and two runs scored. Brailee Peterson had a pair of hits and one RBI. Brielle Sandoval, Taylor Secor, and Sorenson each collected a hit and Danica Adams had one run scored in the 3-0 Dino win.

Following the win over Canyon View, Carbon made their way to St. George for the Snow Canyon Tournament, to play four games in two days.

First up was Orem and the Tigers had the Dinos number as they shut Carbon out taking the 5-0 win.

Abeyta, Sandoval, and Adams each registered a hit in the contest, but Carbon was unable to put runs on the board and suffered their first loss of the weekend.

Adams got the start in the circle for Carbon taking the loss going 6.1 innings giving up four hits and four earned runs while striking out nine. Sorenson took over giving up one hit and one run.

Next up for the Lady Dinos was Pine View. Carbon earned the 15-0 victory in three innings.

The Dinos must have been fired up because they came out scoring all 15 runs in the first.

Carbon was relentless on offense, shelling the Panthers causing a pitching change with just one out, and a 3-0 lead. The Lady Dinos would continue with their foot on the pedal as Sage Vea stepped up to the plate sending a double to left driving in Peterson and Samantha Riddle. One batter later Abeyta sent a triple to left driving home Kennlee Kennedy and Vea to push the score to 8-0. Later in the inning with the score 13-0 and two outs, Kennedy came back to the plate sending a single to right bringing in Aleece Ardohain and Vea to push the score to 15-0, then it was just a matter of keeping Pine View off the board to secure the win.

Vea had a great day at the plate with a pair of hits, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Kennedy collected a pair of hits with three RBIs and scored a run. Riddle earned one hit, two RBIs, and a run scored in the win.

Sorenson handled business in the circle with one hit and struck out three.

Saturday morning the Lady Dinos would face the Skyline Grizz. Carbon would do just enough to take the 5-1 victory in five innings.

Carbon jumped on the board in the top of the first inning as Abeyta got on base from her lead-off double and then with Danica Adams at the plate, Abeyta was able to score on a wild pitch. The next batter up, Sorenson reached on an error, Sandoval came up to the plate sending a single to left field and driving in Shayla Penovich to put the score at 2-0.

Things got quiet again until the top of the fifth. With two outs on the scoreboard, Adams was able to score on a wild pitch to Sandoval, who would then send a line drive to center to bring home Sorenson. Carbon added one more run to take the win 5-1.

Sandoval collected a pair of hits and RBIs, and a run scored. Peterson had a hit and an RBI in the win.

Adams got the start in the circle earning the win by going 4.1 innings surrendering four hits and one earned run while she struck out three. Sorenson entered to close out the game and collect one strikeout.

Carbon would close out the weekend against host Snow Canyon. The Dinos struggled offensively only putting up three runs in the 14-3 loss in five innings.

After the first inning, the score was tied at one, then headed into the fourth, and with Snow Canyon holding the 3-2 advantage the Warriors went on a tear putting up seven in the inning and then four more in the fifth to hand the Lady Dinos their second loss of the weekend.

Sorenson collected three hits, and a pair of RBIs, and scored one in the loss. Abeyta had a pair of hits and two runs scored, and Sandoval collected three hits and an RBI.

Sorenson got the start and the loss going 3.1 innings, giving up eight hits, eight earned runs, and struck out two. Adams would come in giving up five hits, six earned runs, and struck out two.
