“Better than Before” is the theme for this year’s Carbon County Fair and after speaking with Event Coordinator, Kourtney Cox this year’s events and activities are sure to be appealing to everyone in the Castle Country area.
This year’s event is a way to kick-off the summer so some events will begin on Thursday, May 30 at 7:00 pm with the Cornhole Tournament. The evening will have live entertainment, as Cox explains, “I’m really excited about our entertainment. We have a little bit of a variety this year so we’re not just catering to people who are interested in one genre of music. So the first night, Thursday night at 7:00 pm in the amphitheater, we have Luke Randall and John Houston’s Billy Joel and Elton John Tribute, it’s called An Evening of Billy Joel and Elton John.” This group is sure to play songs that everyone can sing and dance to.
On Friday, May 31 vendor booths, kid’s corners and animal barn open up at 10:00. The 4-H and Open Exhibits and the Castle Country Quilters Quilt Show will begin at noon. A new event taking place this year is Battle of the Bands which is currently open to any local bands. “We’re actually going to host this down in the park on the pavilion stage, and then we’re going to set up the portable stage – so they’re going to kind of be at an angle to each other. One band will play, while the next one sets up and will go back and forth,” explained Cox. Officials are currently developing a link on the Carbon County’s website at https://www.carbon.utah.gov/ to allow bands to register for the competition. Also taking place this evening will be the Burnout Competition, Carbon County Fair Rodeo and the Desert Wings RC Air Night Flights.
Saturday, Jun. 1 the motor cross races and Desert Wings RC Air Show start bright and early at 7:00 am The vendor booths, kid’s corners, animal barn, 4-H and Open Exhibits and the Castle Country Quilters Quilt Show will begin at 10:00 am. Also, at 10:00 will be Kid’s Talent Show, followed by a Hypno Hick Kid’s Show at 3:00 pm. The family friendly entertainment will continue with an adult show by the Hypno Hick at 5:00 pm. There will be a country/western concert to close out the Carbon County Fair festivities at 7:00 pm with the group, Due West.
