The Carbon Lady Dinos scored 11 runs in three innings, making quick work of the Manti Templars in a 13-2 win at home Tuesday afternoon.

Three players finished with three RBIs as the Lady Dinos turned a 2-0 lead after the third inning into a 13-2 blowout.

Brailee Peterson gave the Lady Dinos the lead in the first inning with a line drive single to center field, scoring Adri Abeyta. Moments later Brielle Sandoval would score on a fielder’s choice hit by Danica Adams, giving Carbon a 2-0 lead heading into the second frame.

After two scoreless innings the Lady Dinos took complete control in the fourth by scoring six runs. Abeyta launched a double to right field with bases loaded, scoring two runs. Kylan Sorenson extended the lead with an RBI single, leading to a bases clearing triple from Sandoval. Carbon added one more run as Peterson hit a ground ball to the shortstop, scoring Sandoval from third.

A walk and an error led to Delta scoring its only two runs in the top of the fifth inning, but Carbon immediately answered back with another run in the bottom half of the same frame. Sorenson capped off a four run sixth inning with a two RBI single, giving Carbon an 11-run lead and the win.

Abeyta ended the game with a 3-4 performance at the plate, hitting two doubles and bringing in three RBIs. Sandoval finished 2-3 with one triple and three RBIs, while Sorenson knocked two singles and also brought in three runs.

Sorenson also got the job done on the mound as she tossed a complete game for Carbon, allowing just two hits over six innings of work. Controlling the tempo from the mound throughout, Sorenson recorded 11 strikeouts and walked just one batter.

Tuesday’s win moves Carbon to 6-4 overall on the season, while improving the team’s region mark to 4-1.

Carbon will return to the field on Wednesday with a non-region road contest against Lehi.
